  1. I'm late to this post, but I'm from Canada and I'm struggling booking a hotel without a credit card! Please help! I used to be able to put a cash deposit down, now they won't let you book without a credit card on file 😢 HELP!!!

  2. Third party reservations can backfire on you quickly. I have hotel memberships and pretty much stick to one of two brands. Members get a small discount, but with consistent usage they know me and if there is something like a last minute change, I usually have no issues. I choose hotel chains I know will be clean, etc. I am picky about the clean thing and I have had cheap have the not so clean. If they are not full, it is not unusual to get an upgrade at no extra charge.

  3. My upgrade hack is when i go to a hotel, I take the cover of the thermostat off and put a paperclip between R + C terminals. That blows a tiny fuse but after they come up to fix it, I do it again. Makes it seem like there is some sort of short in the AC unit and BOOM, upgrade for my inconvenience

  4. NOPE. I don't to call and haggel. I just want a good price. I too have "hacked" to get a decent price. I don't want to badger some front desk employee that was just hired two weeks ago. I just want a room at a decent price and will use the computer algorithym to my advantage.

By the way…what is the relationship between George and Rachel? It is weird.

  5. No! I have always loved you all. Please don’t ruin the love by telling people to go to a third party travel agent. Especially not Priceline!

    Book direct and save.
All you are doing is feeding the beast.
The third party charges same rates as the hotel. (Except the opaque stuff like Priceline express).
The third party then keeps 15-20% from the hotel for providing the booking.
They barely do anything. They don’t have the same overhead. They take that money and turn it right back into advertising and suppress legitimate hotel advertising.

  6. Coming from someone that worked front desk at a hotel, priceline etc you will essentially pay going rates, and you can’t cancel or change your reservation through the hotel, it has to be done through the 3rd party, which good luck 👍
