I never book airline tickets through a third party. If something goes wrong it is that much harder to fix it. Flights get delayed, flights get cancelled.
You can use a travel agent that uses SNAP or the GDS which books directly with the airlines so don't think a TA can't help you. We can see all the options in the GDS as well!

Besides booking direct with the airline, call the customer service line to book. They have other flights that do not show up on the regular screens. Being a member of the airline helps also. Even if you have to buy some miles it is usually cheaper than cash. By being a member you will be offered discounts on buying miles occasionally.

This is probably a dumb question, but do you recommend calling and booking through customer support in order to fly economy on the short leg of the journey and business class for the long flights? Trying to book through the credit card website is so confusing. 🙁
Got lucky a few years ago with $800 extra for business class from Turkey to NYC from premium economy.
I've booked a ticket from london to australia with avios points bc one way for 90k avios plus 500£ in taxes with qatar airways. If I was to pay cash it was over £6k 😮 .

Definitely tracking google flights got me a flight from Perth western Australia to Tasmania for only 150 bucks. Before that, they were 500/600AU Try it! Type into Google "flights" then you'll see the flights tab. Take your time have a really good look around. You can set as many alerts as you like.
I don't know how true this is !!! Alot of B.S. on YouTube. I've been flying to the Philippines and Thailand for 23 yrs. All I've been offered was Upgrades minimum Non-stop Philippines Airlines $ 500. to $ 1,000.
I live in Perth, Australia and fly to Europe once a year over Xmas. It’s expensive as there is limited competition, I fly Qatar airways (same price as other airlines); economy is around $2.5-$3k and business is 9-10k.
It never used to be this expensive, I used to fly Qatar business for $6k and could stomach the cost.
After some playing around on google flights, I now bookend my Europe trip out of Bali. I book Bali to Copenhagen, through Finnair (through codeshare you actually fly Qatar with Qsuites) and my flights were $3800.
Book on their website I booked a flight to Tampa on expedia thinking it would be cheaper when I got to giving my bag they said I had to pay for £65 for the bags
At the moment, the availability of upgrades for long flights are less then ever before. So book, if you really only want business class, business class! Otherwise you will be disappointed.
Unfortunately, it is not true! Everyone can find economy class tickets for good price but not business.

This is not the best deal. There are many of us who fly business class for free. Of course those who know don't ask, and those who ask don't need to know.
I have been sent offer to send a bid we are 2 adults and 3 children offer say from £600 _£1000 does that mean if we are accepted at price that's x5 or x1 and that's what we would have to pay? Little confused. We still have 30 days before we fly.
Great advice! Thank you! If you book a mixture of Business and Economy on one journey…pay attention to baggage allowances as you may not be able to take advantage of the larger allowances for business class if part of the journey is in economy.
I find the tickets on pages like premium-flights, the page posts business class deals on a daily basis. The blog is free, and booking links with the airline or ota's are included.
Does not work for us. No big savings, if any! Sorry. Still look for a real better way.

You say to check the prices on Google Flights and then book directly on the airline websites however I found the airline website prices were more than double the prices indicated on Google Flights. How do you get the cheaper prices listed on Google Flights without using the cheaper (potentially shonky!) websites listed at the bottom of their page?
