Learned the hard way NOT to book thru third party. Booked my flight, rental car and lodging thru third party pay deal. When I arrived I needed to change my rental car driver from me to my daughter……took over two hours and they couldn’t change at Budget, since I didn’t book directly with them!
The second time was a vacation in New Mexico with my grandchildren. The motel room was a total disaster. The hotel staff was great and did their best, but no empty rooms to move into. They would have comped our entire room cost, but couldn’t because it was booked thru a third party. I wasn’t willing to give a terrible review to get my money back, because the hotel staff was so good and they tried their best to correct the problems.
ALWAYS book separately and directly with your hotel, rental car and flights, NOT a package. If something goes wrong with one part you are stuck!
For those who are aware of the trick of the online POCKETFARE travel agency, which is selling tickets at a low price on sale and the seats are actually sold out, then they send you a message that you have to pay more money to upgrade your seat and they charge you whatever they want. Be careful, it is a robbery by this airline ticket company.

I learned a hard lesson last year when the need came up to travel the following week. Trying to avoid the last minute high airfares, I tried an unheard of third party who promised really low prices. Such a mistake that really cost me. They pulled a lot of bait and switch, costing me more to fly out and then they totally abandoned me at my destination when they said they couldn’t get me and my wife on the flight I had already paid for. We had to spend an extra night in a hotel and then wound up booking a flight home with another airline. Sooooo angry. They only refunded about a third of what I figured they owed us. Lesson learned.

I tried booking a flight to Casper WY using Google flights instead of Travelocity, however Google did not offer the lowest fare, nor the many different options Travelocity did. Moreover it kept taking me to Denver -not Casper. Whats up?
