If my staff gets caught accepting tip money (if you can call it that in this case) in return for favors that violate hotel rules and policies (including undeserved free upgrades) then theyre going to be hearing a heck load from me at the next staff meeting
I worked in an Arena where NBA games are played and trust me tipping someone in a bribery manner 100% gets you what you want trust me where under paid so those tips go a long way when i was tipped i made sure my guests were good and happy period

I did the sandwich thing and got upgraded to at sky suite. But I did a $50 instead of a $20

Everyone I tipped $20 bucks did not give me an upgrade. Just asking nicely is all that works. The tips seemed to work against us.

Edit: the strip view upgrade is barely an upgrade and most get that for free if they ask and its available

A huge problem is in Vegas more and more of the hotels are going 100% digital check in staff.
It also helps tons to be a woman when you do this. And even more of your an attractive one.
